The Donald F. McHenry Global Public Service Fellows Program

The Donald F. McHenry Global Public Service Fellows Program is open to students accepted by any of the eight SFS Master’s degree programs and is conferred at the time of acceptance. The fellowship provides a scholarship covering full tuition and mandatory fees. American and international students from widely diverse backgrounds and experiences are encouraged to apply.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Acceptance and enrollment in the desired SFS Program found at https://sfs.georgetown.edu, and

  • Commitment to a career in transformational global public service.

PROGRAMMATIC BENEFITS

  • A scholarship covering full tuition and mandatory fees

  • Individual mentoring to enhance analytic writing, oral briefing, professional, and personal skills

  • Inter-disciplinary exchanges on creative solutions to public service problems

  • Interaction with senior practitioners at the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy and at the wider SFS

  • Events to complement and expand the fellows’ Master’s degree academic learning

  • Assistance with internships for practical experience and networking

  • Counseling on career employment search

APPLICATION

The application components include two recommendation letters (PDF), your resume (PDF), and statements:

  • What does global public service mean to you and why do you desire a career in global public service? This should NOT be the narrative statement that you submitted for admission to one of the SFS’s eight Master’s degree programs. (1000 words maximum)
  • What or who inspired your commitment to global public service? (200 words maximum)
  • Describe a personal or organizational leadership challenge that you managed and the results you achieved. (200 words maximum)
  • What are your career aspirations for transformational global public service? (200 words maximum)
  • Is there additional information about you that you think the selection committee should know while considering your application? (200 words maximum
