Class of 2023
Christie Charles has seven years of diverse experience working in the public sector, non-profits, and English language education. Before GHD, she was managing multi-million dollar awards in the federal government and an international NGO. Prior to that, she was an English Educator in Ethiopia with the Peace Corps and a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Côte d'Ivoire. These experiences served as a catalyst for her to pursue a career in diplomacy with a focus on implementing sustainable and effective development interventions.
In GHD, she is pursuing a certificate in Refugees, Migration, and Humanitarian Emergencies. Christie is also interested in gender, equality, and social inclusion issues affecting women and girls and potential recipient-led solutions through the decolonization of aid.
Christie holds a bachelor’s degree in International Business from Howard University. She is a 2020 Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Graduate Fellow and will join the Department of State Foreign Service upon graduation.
