Evaluating the Impact of Socioemotional Skills Training on Entrepreneurial Outcomes Among Youth in Côte d'Ivoire
As an impact evaluation intern for the World Bank Gender Innovation Lab’s Pro-Jeunes project in Côte d’Ivoire, I worked in coordination with the IRC and Innovations for Poverty Action to support a 5-year youth program that assessed the impact of Socio-Emotional skills training on employment. Working primarily in French with a global team, I contributed to developing the second cohort’s baseline questionnaire guided by data collected from the first cohort. As a former language instructor, I also stepped up to the project’s linguistic needs to grade and refine the questionnaire’s wording. I further applied my language skills to translate the survey from French to English for IRB approval. My biggest project in the course of this internship was researching and developing an SMS intervention to mitigate the anticipated impact of Covid-19 on sexually risky behavior. After researching, designing, and developing a pitch for the project, it was successfully funded.
