COVID Social Impact Monitoring and Rural Livelihood Research
This summer I joined the Community Driven Development Global Solutions Group of the World Bank. My work has included monitoring the differential impact of COVID-19 on vulnerable social groups in developing countries. Our team collected and organized reliable quantitative data from numerous organizations that demonstrate COVID-19’s effects on people with disabilities, women, children, migrants, refugees, IDPs, LGBTI individuals, Indigenous peoples, and ethnic minorities. We then published social impact bulletins summarizing key findings to help inform the design of response projects. Additionally, I have conducted a global literature review on Rural Non-Farm Livelihoods. I used this review to create a diagnostic tool for our partners in Ethiopia implementing the Development Response to Displacement Impacts Project. This tool helps practitioners identify key partners and potential intervention areas based on unique preconditions. Lastly, I am organizing a webinar series on sustainable and inclusive recovery utilizing a Local Economic Development framework.
