Maputi is from Port Elizabeth, South Africa, and has over 4 years of international work experience at the intersection of global health, technology and supply chain management. Maputi worked at John Snow Inc. (JSI) as a Program Officer on the USAID | DELIVER Project. In this role, she successfully forwarded healthcare commodities to support malaria programs in 24 countries located in Sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia. Maputi quickly developed a cross-cultural fluency necessary to ensure the secure transshipment, and delivery of malaria medicines to global communities ranging from Yangon, Myanmar to Kampala, Uganda. Her responsibilities challenged her to provide the best value to clients, and vastly improved JSI’s ability to forecast thorough freight and financial information to the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI). As Program Officer, she excelled in high pressured situations, which included overseeing the emergency shipment of healthcare commodities to Liberia during the Ebola outbreak. Apart from work, Maputi volunteers and launched a mobile app that is designed to promote safe sex, consent, abstinence and STI testing awareness. She partnered with a software developer to leverage her communication skills and social media presence to raise awareness about the app & its health messages; in a fun, creative way that young adults can relate to. Maputi believes that complex development challenges can be addressed through innovative and practical solutions. She is excited to learn from her peers in the GHD program, and welcomes the opportunity to get challenged and grow through the top-notch training of the GHD program.
