Margaret Goelz
Class of 2022
Margi joins the GHD program from the advisory practice at the International Center for Research on Women (ICRW Advisors), a team that applies research and evaluation expertise in gender equity and international development for clients to leverage gender integration and equity in their operations and value chains. While at ICRW, she specialized in gender equity and labor in global supply chains and consulted for global apparel and footwear brands to help them consider gender in their factories beyond traditional audit and compliance measures. She also co-developed ICRW’s supply chain assessment framework and methodology to diagnose barriers to gender equity and identify how they manifest in manufacturing settings, paying special attention to gender-based violence and harassment. Margi is also passionate about gender-smart investing to influence how and where capital flows to promote gender equity and women’s economic empowerment. In this topic area, Margi supported the development of gender lens screening and measurement tools for development finance institutions and private investors across sectors such as power, agriculture, and off-grid energy. She graduated with honors from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor with degrees in International Studies and Middle East and North African Studies, alongside a minor in Community Action and Social Change. A gender justice advocate, Margi remains passionate about building capacities in individuals, their communities, and the institutions that affect people’s lives.
