Christopher Metzger
Class of 2022
Christopher Metzger joins the GHD program after working at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS)—a bipartisan, nonprofit research organization—for three and a half years. At CSIS, Chris wrote a range of publications offering policy recommendations for tackling some of the most pressing global development challenges such as corruption, climate change, youth unemployment, and how to increase financing from the private sector. This research involved case study trips to Uganda, Kazakhstan, Liberia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Australia, and Italy to meet with both stakeholders and donors. At Georgetown, Chris is focusing on access to finance, trade, and investment in emerging markets, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in international politics from Washington and Lee University and is working to become proficient in French.
For his 2021 summer internship, Chris served as an Impact Fellow for Hello Tractor—an agriculture-technology social enterprise—in their Nairobi office. While in Kenya, he designed a phone call survey of tractor owners, Hello Tractor’s primary customers, and presented the findings to the senior management team. For his DC internship, Chris will be working as an Impact Investing intern this fall for SEAF, an investment management group that provides growth capital and business assistance to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in emerging and transition markets.
