Hasina Jalal
Class of 2023
Hasina has worked in leadership positions in the Government of Afghanistan as the Policy Advisor to the Minister and Director of Donor Coordination and Program Management Directorate at the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum; Policy Expert and Research Team Leader in the Presidential Place; and director, founder, and co-founder of several civil society organizations and women’s national and regional networks. She has an MBA from the American University of Afghanistan, an MA in women’s and gender studies as a Fulbright scholar, and a BA in economics with a minor in political science from JMI University in India. At Georgetown, Hasina is interested in studying human development and its relation with women, peace, and security, and humanitarian issues such as human rights, refugee crises, and post-conflict resolution. Hasina is fluent in Persian, Pashto, Urdu/Hindi, English, and Turkish languages.
