Ksenia Dubova
Class of 2025
Ksenia Dubova was born in Zaporizhzhia in southeast Ukraine, presently war-torn. As a graduate of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, she studied Public Relations and Advertising.
In October 2016, Ksenia started a European Solidarity Corps program in Croatia. Her tasks were focused on informing Croatian youth about educational and mobility opportunities. Later, she received a scholarship to study Indonesian language and culture at Bali State Polytechnic University in Indonesia. In 2020, Ksenia spent 5 months volunteering in Israel, where she contributed to the local community in Mitzpe Ramon and taught English in both Jewish and Bedouin communities. Ksenia then returned to Ukraine where she worked as an EducationUSA Adviser at American Councils for International Education, where she supported educational development in Ukraine.
Advocating for young Ukrainians motivates her to work in human development. Ksenia envisions educational development in Ukraine through structural reforms in government policies, which can be made possible by promoting equality, justice and fighting against corruption.
Why GHD?
Because I want to make a real change!
Ksenia has a passion for traveling, exploring different cultures and customs of the world. She speaks English, Ukrainian, Russian, some French, and Indonesian. She believes that her wide range of interests and passion for education and public service would be a valuable asset to the GHD Program.
Summer Internship
Empowering Youth through E-Waste Management in Kenya
During my summer internship at Bopinc Kenya in Nairobi, I had the opportunity to work on the Power-Up project, supported by the IKEA Foundation and implemented by Bopinc, Light for the World, and WEEE Centre. This project addresses the e-waste crisis in Kenya and empowers youth, including women and persons with disabilities, to work in sustainable e-waste management.
During the internship, I assessed the effectiveness of the Power-Up! training programs by quantitative and qualitative research and field observations. I prepared a comprehensive evaluation report and created engaging content to highlight the program's impact for promotional purposes. This experience deepened my understanding of sustainable development, gender inclusion, and social entrepreneurship. Supporting this initiative means empowering youth to build sustainable businesses and contribute to a greener, more inclusive future in East Africa.
