Summer Internship
This past summer, I served as an intern with Tetra Tech in Dakar, Senegal, where I was actively engaged in the USAID Scaling Up Renewable Energy (SURE) project. This initiative centers on the deployment of solar-powered water pumps in rural areas, empowering local entrepreneurs to deliver sustainable solar solutions to women and youth through targeted grants. Collaborating with local governors, financial institutions, and grantees, I witnessed firsthand the profound impact of climate change on vulnerable populations and how even modest financial interventions can drive transformative change. Drawing on the expertise I gained from GHD, I approached challenges from both technical and policy-making perspectives. I honed critical skills in data collection, analysis, and stakeholder engagement—essential components for shaping effective energy policies. Additionally, I designed communication materials to showcase project achievements and developed strategic tools to help grantees overcome challenges. This experience deepened my understanding of electricity access, sustainable energy solutions, and reinforced my commitment to driving positive change in vulnerable communities.
