Bailey Adams
Class of 2021
Bailey Adams joined the GHD program with five years of experience in international development, humanitarian response, and global health. Prior to coming to Georgetown, Bailey served as a Global Health Corps Fellow with Jhpiego in Uganda. There, she led the new program development team, writing winning grants from leading international institutions such as UNICEF, and spearheading the technical program design of new maternal, child, and reproductive health projects. Preceding this, Bailey worked in Rwanda for two years, promoting agricultural interventions to childhood malnutrition with Gardens for Health International. Her time in Rwanda began through a Princeton in Africa fellowship and eventually transitioned into a permanent position, where she served as the Development Manager. In this role, she championed a new project that brought integrated health education and nutrition-sensitive agriculture interventions to refugees in Mahama Refugee Camp. Bailey holds a BA in International Studies and a minor in Public Health, graduating summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and with University Honors from American University.
As a GHD student Bailey is completing a self-designed specialization in nutrition, food security, and humanitarian emergencies. She has also held several internships and consultancies during her tenure at Georgetown. With Results for Development (R4D), she served as the Evaluation and Adaptive Learning Intern, where she led the qualitative research analysis of the LAUNCH Food Global Innovation challenge and the associated nutrition innovations across the Indo-Pacific region. She has also worked with the World Bank in several capacities - with the Mind, Behavior, and Development Unit (eMBeD) she collaborated with economists to conduct rigorous data analysis on behavioral science interventions; and with the Agriculture and Food Global Practice she served as a consultant alongside the team leading the Bank’s COVID-19 food security response.
