The Graduate Certificate in Social Innovation and Global Development (SIGD) is a 15-credit certificate that offers courses grouped along 3 pathways: Innovation & Design, Private Sector in Development, and Social Finance; coupled with an intensive Global Social Innovation Lab. All students are required to complete 15 credits, at least one from each category of the approved list of electives. The SIGD certificate prepares students to work at the intersection of social innovation and development. This is pivotal in an increasingly inter-connected world, where students must consider innovative approaches that combine public and private solutions within market-oriented systems, to solve the most complex development challenges. This first-of-its-kind certificate will be administered by The Global Human Development Program: a top-notch graduate training program at Georgetown University, that is building the next generation of development practitioners. Students in any graduate program at Georgetown University are eligible to apply for the SIDG certificate. Applications are open now in the Fall of 2021 and students will take courses in the Spring of 2022.
