Alexandra Bracken
Class of 2020
Alexandra Bracken joins GHD from the International Youth Foundation (IYF) where she spent the past four years supporting youth workforce development programming in sub-Saharan Africa. She most recently worked as a Program Manager on a systems change initiative designed to strengthen Mozambique’s vocational training system’s responsiveness to labor market needs. While at IYF, she also supported projects in Angola, South Africa and Zimbabwe and led the development of a financial education curriculum unit. Prior to IYF, Alexandra served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Mozambique and Cabo Verde where she taught English as a foreign language and information technology and facilitated community programming. She has additional internship and volunteer experience with public, private and non-profit organizations in Switzerland, Tanzania and the United States. Alexandra graduated magna cum laude from Marquette University with a B.A. in International Affairs and History and a minor in Economics. She speaks Portuguese and Cabo Verdean Creole. Alexandra is passionate about youth development and intends to focus her career on strengthening education and training systems so that students acquire market-relevant skills that translate into meaningful employment or self-employment.
