Ani Rudra Silwal

Ani Rudra Silwal is an economist at the U.S. Census Bureau, where he works on poverty in the United States. He previously worked for the World Bank where he conducted policy-oriented research and engaged in dialogue with developing country governments. He has conducted research on various topics including global trends in inequality, global extent of child poverty, poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa, social protection in Sri Lanka, and international remittances. He completed his Ph.D. from the University of Sussex, where he examined natural, historical, and market forces that constrain Tanzanian households in poverty. He also received a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Swarthmore College. He enjoys running and has completed six marathons.
