Ashley Hamilton
Class of 2020
Ashley Hamilton began her career in International Development as an undergraduate student at Spelman College. Her passion for global affairs led her to become a Peace Corps Volunteer in Mozambique, where she taught English at the secondary education level and gained invaluable experience in grassroots development. While in Mozambique, Ashley dedicated her time to cultivating a theater group of local students who used the outlet to discuss pressing social issues in their community. She utilized that platform to encourage critical thought and discussions surrounding a number of issues, including malaria prevention, women’s rights, and gender-based violence.
Presently, Ashley specializes in sub-Saharan African Affairs with a concentration in Refugees and Humanitarian Emergencies. In 2018, Ashley was awarded the Donald Payne International Development Fellowship. Following her time at GHD she will join the United States Agency for International Development as a Foreign Service Officer.
