Frances Turk
Class of 2026
Frances is a third culture kid who spent her adolescent years in Madagascar before going back to the United States to obtain her undergraduate degree at Rollins College. Through her program in elementary education, Frances collaborated with the Rwanda Education Assistant Program (REAP) in building their education partnership with local schools in Duha, Rwanda. Her experience in Rwanda strengthened her desire to return to the continent of Africa as an education professional.
Upon graduating in 2020, Frances gained invaluable teaching experience at local schools in Florida, while waiting for her Fulbright program in Senegal to lift their travel restrictions, which had been imposed due to COVID-19. Frances was awarded two consecutive Fulbright grants (2021-22 and 2022-23), teaching English at cultural centers and local public schools, while also acting as a mentor to the incoming cohort of Fulbright grantees. During her time in Senegal, Frances gained insight into how education programs are implemented outside of the classroom, which sparked her interest in international education development.
While at Georgetown, Frances is excited to increase her understanding of monitoring and evaluations and ways to turn data and program analysis into practical changes for a community.
In her spare time, Frances enjoys playing various sports, listening to murder mystery audio books, and playing card games with friends and strangers alike.
