Jared Stein
Class of 2024
Jared joins the GHD program with over six years of experience working in development, policy, and politics. Most recently, Jared worked as a project manager for a government relations firm, supporting academic, biopharma, and medical device clients as they sought federal research funding. Prior to this, he spent three years in Ecuador with Peace Corps, where he served as the Volunteer Leader for the Community Health Program. During his time in Ecuador, Jared primarily focused on issues related to sexual and reproductive health. He partnered with the Ministry of Public Health to improve HIV prevention efforts in low-resource coastal communities and collaborated with both Peace Corps country and headquarters staff to ensure that the Community Health Program’s efforts properly addressed local needs.
Born in San Diego, California, Jared graduated from the University of San Francisco in 2014 with a B.A. in Politics, and minors in both Latin American Studies, and Environmental Studies. During his time at GHD, he plans to focus on the Environment and Climate specialization. Jared speaks Spanish and is interested in working at both field and the policy level to address issues at the intersection of environmental sustainability and economic development that are affecting communities in Latin America.
Why GHD?
I chose GHD because the program offers core courses focused on building up the skills that I felt I needed to improve in order to be an effective development professional, while still providing the flexibility to specialize on the thematic issues I care most about.
