Visualizing Trends between Agricultural Regulations and Private Sector Growth
This summer I had the privilege of conducting an internship with the Enabling the Business of Agriculture (EBA) team within the Agriculture and Food Global Practice at the World Bank. The EBA is a World Bank Group study which collects unique data on regulations that affect farmers, providing a tangible measure of progress and identifying regulatory obstacles to market integration and entrepreneurship. While working with the EBA, I performed data analysis exercises on the EBA’s 2019 Report, utilizing statistical software to analyze microdata and visualize trends between agricultural regulations and selected outcome variables representing private sector growth for 101 countries. My experience with the EBA not only provided an opportunity to apply and deepen data analysis skills acquired during my first year with GHD, but it also allowed me to gain comprehensive knowledge of the global agricultural policy environment.
