John is originally from California, but he spent most of his childhood in the beautiful Pacific Northwest region of the United States. John earned a Bachelor of Arts in international relations from Colgate University in 2015. After graduating, he returned to the Seattle area to pursue a career in management consulting.

After four years of providing project management and marketing support to leading technology firms, John joined the Peace Corps with the goal of putting his skills to use in a more human-focused environment. John spent almost three years as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Kyrgyz Republic, where he worked closely with local English teachers to implement small scale projects and strengthen local teaching capacity. He also drove a volunteer-led initiative to improve monitoring and evaluation practices for the project and provide volunteers with better data about student skills.

During his time at GHD, John plans to deepen his understanding of the development landscape in Central Asia and gain the skills he needs to help local communities address some of the pressing challenges he observed as a volunteer.
