Katie Sullivan joins the GHD program after five years working in technology, community development, and education. She spent the past three years at Vera Solutions, a social enterprise that builds cloud and mobile technology solutions to support the missions of development organizations worldwide. While based in Vera’s Mumbai hub, Katie led technical trainings and designed data tracking and visualization applications for organizations ranging from small community-based nonprofits to large funders in Asia, Africa, and Europe. She later returned to the U.S. and co-founded Vera’s Washington DC office, where she managed technology implementation projects in both English and Spanish, including the development and rollout of a mobile tool to track savings group data across several Central American countries. Before Vera, Katie managed communications and partnerships as a Princeton in Latin America fellow at the Cojolya Association, a nonprofit in Guatemala that coordinates services for women artisans. Prior to that, she spent one year in education as a student mentor and tutor in Washington DC. Katie graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Washington University in St. Louis with a B.A. in international studies and Spanish and a minor in anthropology. There she became interested in development issues while studying human rights in Argentina, working on education initiatives in the Republic of Georgia, and interning at two national fair housing advocacy organizations in the United States. At Georgetown, Katie looks forward to expanding her knowledge of social innovation, data, and technology for development and gaining new skills in monitoring, evaluation, and program design.
