Linda Christopher
Class of 2026
Linda is a first-generation student from Iruonwelu, Nigeria, a community where the education of girls is limited. This fueled her ambition to graduate summa cum laude in economics at Adamawa State University, Nigeria. Linda worked as a mathematics tutor at Bellflower Academy and a data entry clerk at the Nigerian Youth Service Corps. Linda’s commitment to public sector development led to her role as a statistician at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital where she contributed to surveys, research, and data analysis informing decisions related to hospital finance, screening of diseases, pandemic control, and distribution of vaccines. Here, she has effectively led the clinical service and ICT units. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Linda was an integral member of the COVID-19 Task Force established by the government to ensure the curb of the virus spread.
Having witnessed the devastating effects of Boko Haram's terrorism in northeastern Nigeria significantly influenced Linda's passion for working in humanitarian service. Her aspirations include reducing the burden of disease, promoting gender integration and mitigating the impacts of terrorism. Linda is also a social activist and has championed campaigns to promote the sensitization of women's inclusion in rights to education and the right to vote in her local community.
Linda is enthusiastic about joining the Georgetown community through the Global Human Development program to enhance her quantitative analytical skills to proffer data-driven solutions to problems of underdevelopment in Sub-Saharan Africa. Linda envisions herself as a development economist, fostering global health, gender integration, and global peace. She is also proficient in Hausa and Igbo languages. Away from academics, you will find her weightlifting, cooking, or spending time with friends and family.
