Maggie Thompson
Class of 2023
Maggie is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, and graduated from Loyola University Chicago in 2018 with degrees in Political Science and Global and International Studies. After undergrad, Maggie served with Jesuit Volunteer Corps in Tacna, Peru where she worked as an English Teaching Assistant and a Pastoral Team Coordinator at a primary and secondary school. In Tacna, she found her passion for the intersection of education, youth development, and climate change adaptation. Following her evacuation from Peru in April 2020, Maggie interned with the Americas Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) researching trafficking in persons and the creative and cultural economy in Latin America. Most recently, she was an Assistant Program Officer with Mercy Corps' VenEsperanza program, a consortium effort that provides cash transfers to migrants and refugees in Colombia. Maggie is thrilled to learn from and with her cohort while specializing in Education and Human Capital. She speaks Spanish and plans to study Portuguese at Georgetown.
