Margret Chu
Class of 2020
Margret Chu is currently specializing in evaluation, governance, and social inclusion and works as a consultant with the World Bank and as a capstone consultant with Two Rabbits in Cameroon. Her experiences through GHD include working with the World Bank in Amman, Jordan on a municipal service delivery project to address the Syrian refugee crisis as well as internships with various international development organizations. She joined GHD after working with Oxfam America’s CHANGE Initiative, a national youth leadership program. Prior, she served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Albania where she worked with local government and civil society organizations on transparency initiatives and sustainable waste management. She designed and implemented recycling programs in schools in her town while engaging local actors and youth to become more environmentally responsible. Additionally, Margret coordinated Albania’s national Model United Nations program and worked closely with UNDP’s ESERE project in Durres which seeks to improve access to employment, social services, education, and social integration for Albania’s marginalized Roma and Egyptian populations. She holds a B.A. in French and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a certificate in Political Studies from Sciences Po Lyon in France. Margret has a passion for foreign languages and speaks French and Cantonese fluently. She is conversational in Albanian, Mandarin, Spanish and Italian and has studied Arabic and German.
