At Georgetown, Nasim intends to build her professional skills, expand her networks and learn from the experiences of the faculty and her classmates. She plans to work in the field of her master’s degree program with a specialization in quantitative analysis and evaluation and two graduate certificates programs: Social Innovation and Global Development and Refugees, migration and humanitarian emergencies.
Summer Internship Experience
Economic Empowerment Intern with International Rescue Committee
During the summer of 2023, I had the opportunity to participate in an internship program offered by the International Rescue Committee, located in Silver Spring, Maryland. During my internship at IRC, I held the position of an economic empowerment intern and collaborated closely with an employment specialist. My understanding of humanitarian assistance pertaining to refugees and the endeavors undertaken by international organizations, such as the International Rescue Committee (IRC), to support refugees and implement diverse initiatives globally has been enhanced. I developed my interpersonal skills and made my communication network stronger.
During this internship, I actively engaged with clients, utilizing the tools at my disposal to identify appropriate employment prospects and facilitate their professional development. I enhanced my proficiency in the required abilities for fostering employability. Additionally, I have enhanced my administration and communication skills. The internship experience inspired me to pursue future professional endeavors in the fields of migration and humanitarian situations. During this internship, I effectively applied the knowledge and skills acquired during the initial year of study. Throughout the duration of this internship, I endeavored to expand upon the designated responsibilities by actively engaging in the development of work databases and exploring opportunities to enhance the integration of immigrants into the host society and culture.
